Feminist Frequency is a site which hosts video and commentary looking at the portrayals of female characters in popular media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American media critic and blog writer who has won accolades for her work. She is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency is an educational non-profit website that explores the representations of females in popular culture narratives. Aiming to break down the stereotypes that are associated with females in pop culture she also works to highlight issues related to targeted exploitation of women and the other marginalized groups of individuals in the internet space. Sarkeesian who has an MA in Political and Social Thinking in the field of social and political thought from York University, is a popular public speaking. She has given speeches at the TEDxWomen festival as well as United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. Passionate about issues of gender identity and feminism from at an early age, she created her own website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while still a student at the University. The ambitious young woman was targeted by the Internet for starting a web featuring a series about gender and videogames. The incident did not deter her, but instead strengthened the determination of feminist media critic. As a result of the many achievements she's made for feministism, she's recognized with numerous awards.
